From 2020 Heather began dealing with a number of health issues, which brought a new ritual to her art practice. Through visual art, theater, poetry, crafts and radio, she was able to translate feelings and experiences into visual and creative concepts as a form of healing.

The theater community became a therapeutic and safe space for her to heal and freely express herself. Acting, improvisation, and performances became flexible tools to test her memory and cognition. As well as a safe space to re-integrate into society.

After taking many courses, she noticed a lack of english speaking theater “clubs” for amateurs in the Netherlands, and so during 2022 co-founded acting and improvisation club Acting Club Amsterdam (ACA) actingclub.nl.

The community-run club features a mix of lessons, games, shows and events. She threw herself into the expansion of the club – participating as an actress, hosting classes, stage designing, brand designing, and producing plays.

After a year of growth and success, Heather re-branded the club to Acting Club Netherlands, and took her beginners acting and improvisation course and club to Rotterdam. Kick-starting the clubs next stage of expansion, opening more spots for english speaking residents to take part in the creative arts.
